HA-FU Stool

2016 | Pine wood, Birch plywood

My goal in this project was to design a new version of the iconic “carpenters' stool” found in many bars and restaurants around Tel Aviv.

I was influenced by the elegant Japanese “Butterfly stool” designed by Sori Yanagi, fabricated in plywood molding technique, which is expensive to produce.

My stool was designed to be sophisticated and eye-catching, sticking to the proportions of the iconic "carpenters' stool", but at the same time cheap and easy to produce.

The result is “Ha-fu”: a half-Japanese half-Tel Avivian stool.
